Mohd Khairil Abdullah

Axiata Digital Services Sdn Bhd

Khairil Abdullah is the CEO of Axiata Digital Services, where he leads investments and operations in digital businesses.

Khairil is the CEO of Axiata Digital Services (AD), the digital services arm of Axiata Group Berhad, that was established to support the increasingly digital lifestyle of Axiata consumers. At AD, Khairil leads investments and operations across three strategic businesses. These include digital financial services such as e-wallet, micro-lending and micro-insurance; digital advertising that use data driven solutions to enhance business success; and platform services focused on API’s (Application Programming Interface)
that redefine the way businesses communicate with consumers. Flagship brands within the portfolio are Boost, Aspirasi, ADA and Apigate. Khairil first joined Axiata Group Berhad in 2012 as Group Chief Marketing and Operations Officer before assuming his role as Chief Executive Officer at AD in 2014.

Khairil was previously at Bain & Company, Inc., a leading global management
consultancy where he was a Partner. He was with Bain for more than 15 years and worked out of various offices in the firm, including San Francisco, Munich, Sydney, and others. He built a strong track record of helping his clients in telecoms and other industries achieve major improvements to their strategic positions and operational performance. In 2008, Khairil returned to Southeast Asia to help Bain grow its telecoms practice in the region based out of Singapore.

Before Bain, Khairil was an operations consultant at Coopers & Lybrand, Management Consulting Services, along with stints running tech start-ups. Khairil is a board member of the Axiata Digital Innovation Fund (ADIF), a member of the Industry Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia's Paynet, and a member of the Malaysian Innovation Policy Council. He holds a BA, MA (Engineering) and Meng from the University of Cambridge, U.K. as well as an MBA from INSEAD, France.
