Afzal Abdul Rahim
TIME dotCom
Afzal Abdul Rahim is currently the Commander-in-Chief at TIME dotCom, he is involved in a variety of businesses across the telecommunications industry, including data centers and submarine cables systems.
Afzal began his career in the automotive sector, assuming a regional role with the British sports and racing carmaker, Group Lotus PLC. He took a leap of faith and plunged into the communications industry in the aftermath of the dot-com bust, and together with a core management team, steered the AIMS Asia Group to its position as the region’s leading network neutral data centre operator. The team then established the international bandwidth firm Global Transit in 2005, which today counts the Unity Trans-Pacific cable system and the Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) among its core investments.
At the age of 31, Afzal was appointed Commander-in-Chief of TIME dotCom with a major task to turnaround the company. He took on the challenge, and together with a team of seasoned industry professionals, returned the company to profitability within a year.
Afzal holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sussex, UK, specializing in Electronics and Acoustic Wave Theory.
Afzal is a founding Board Member of Endeavor Malaysia.
